Someone with panic disorder experiences feelings of anxiety, stress and panic regularly and at any time. Sometimes there may be a specific trigger but often Panic or Anxiety Attacks occur for no apparent reason. This can create a cycle of fear, as the fear of having another panic attack causes it to happen; or the sufferer withdraws from certain activities or situations in an attempt to avoid another attack. At least 1 in 10 people experience occasional panic attacks.
Panic attacks can be frightening, usually last between 5 to 20 minutes but can reoccur in waves for up to 2 hours, making them particularly distressing. Symptoms vary from person to person but common symptoms of a panic attack include:
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a very effective treatment for Panic Attacks, Anxiety Attacks and Panic Disorder and has been shown to reduce their frequency and severity. Often results can be experienced straight away with panic attacks ceasing to occur with a good hypnotherapy programme of treatment. Hypnotherapy reduces the likelihood of panic attacks occurring by reducing underlying anxiety and working at a subconscious level to replace the unhelpful behavioural patterns and templates triggered in the brain when under stress with others that are more helpful and appropriate. In this way, hypnotherapy can give you greater control in times of stress so emotions are not overwhelmed and future panic attacks may be averted.
